Location:      James K Polk Masonic Lodge

                        900 Hill Street

Pineville, NC 28134

 

Attendees:    Members of Sembach Veterans Organization

All veterans and/ or families with an interest in or memories of Sembach Air Base

 

Purpose:       Fellowship and sharing of memories related to Sembach Air Base, US Armed Forces service in Germany, and German-American relations.  Little structure, lots of sharing time.

 

Activities:      Welcome fellowship time and introductions

                        Display of Sembach AB and German mementos and photos (bring yours)

                        Plenty of time to talk with other Sembach friends and make new ones

Sandwich buffet luncheon

                        Tour of Carolinas Historical Aviation Museum (tell those war stories)

                        Or Tour of James K Polk Presidential Birthplace

                        German Dinner at Waldhorn German Restaurant (real German food) (several meal choices will be offered)

                        Farewell fellowship

                        (All functions will be non-smoking.  No alcohol is allowed at the meeting site, but you may purchase wine or beer on your own at the Waldhorn Restaurant dinner)

 

Cost:              $50 per person, will include meals and tour admissions – any “excess” at end of event will be donated to Air Force Aid Society

 

Transportation:  On your own – drive or fly to Charlotte, NC.  I will send attendees maps showing route to the Meeting Lodge.  Pineville is south of Charlotte, just off of I-77 and I-485.   About 10 miles from the Charlotte Airport.

 

Lodging:       On your own – plenty of hotels, motels and B&Bs in the south Charlotte area.  I’ll send attendees some listings, but almost every hotel chain has locations in this area.  Prices are generally very reasonable compared to other parts of the country.  You’ll most likely want to book a room for Friday and Saturday nights.

 

Registration:  If you plan to attend, fill out and mail the attached registration form to the address indicated so it arrives no later than July 15, 2009.  There will be no refunds of the fees issued since we must book and pay for meals and events in advance.  Event will be held regardless of number who attend. Please also send an email telling me your registration is coming to: evalbert@aol.com as soon as you know you will be attending.
